About The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign
Posted on Monday January 21, 2008
The YMCA is a leading Canadian charity. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign focuses on raising financial support for children, teens and families who are unable to afford the full cost of a YMCA membership.
As prospective donors we all wonder how our individual gift could impact when the needs of our community are so great. The YMCA Strong Kids Campaign helps one person, one family, and one program at a time. That may include providing funds for: a child to attend day camp for the first time; aid a struggling teen find employment; enable a child to participate in a recreation or fitness activity; provide a struggling parents to use the child care facility; and support youth in making right decisions when confronted with drugs and crime.
Each YMCA association offers unique programs to serve the needs of their community; each community has deserving children, teens, and families that need your help.
We encourage you to raise awareness and invest in a child today.

March 1, 2008 marked our second annual Strong Kid’s Karate competition. The day began with the Juniors taking the rink in both kata and kumite. After an impressive morning the Seniors competed also in kata and kumite. The tournament brought home surprises with some individuals winning first place in both kata and kumite.
We would like to thank everyone that came out! A special thank you to our Parent Committee for helping us set up and make sure all operations ran smoothly! Also thank you to the instructors and the YLC youth for refereeing, keeping score and timing all the events!
Finally, the competition was a huge success and helped us raise more than $7,000!!! (Just a little short of our goal of $10,000.)
THANK YOU!!
