Karate Spirit

“....When I learned Karate I was taught that the purpose of Karate is not knock down the opponent but to knock down one’s wicked heart. I would like to think that the people who are learning Karate in Europe realise that is is so. I sincerely hope they will develop an unbending spirit and learn how to live simply and impartially through Karate. The Karate dojo is the place to cultivate one’s mind. The karate Dojo of the Nihon University Karate-do Club bears the following inscription of three sentences:
Always be courtesous and respectful.
Never be influenced by other peoples’ circumstances.
Seriousness and sincerity from beginning to end.” – Sensei Shiomitsu
