Karate Kamp 2009 Reflection

Posted on Saturday May 30, 2009

From May 22nd to May 24th, more than 50 members of our Wado-Ryu Dojo took part in Karate Kamp, an annual event designed to strengthen karate technique, extend physical limits, build relationships within the club, and help garner a more intimate knowledge of our style’s origins. The camp took place at Jackson’s Point retreat facility by Lake Simcoe, a relaxing venue far from hectic city life, which allowed us to stay active throughout the weekend. Each extensive training session centered around a different aspect of karate practice, including – but not limited to – basics, pair work, and sparring. The camp also featured a social, where members of our karate family showcased their (musical and dramatic) talents and had a chance to become well-acquainted with each other. At the end of the weekend, everybody left the camp with a greater understanding of their karate training and their fellow karateka.

We would like to thank the camp planning committee Sempai Dom, Sempai Sanaz, Sempai Jeffrey, Sempai Ian and others involved. And a special thank you to Sensei Alex. We hope to see you again next year.
